Our Story
Hello, my name is Bayu Topan, and I am the founder of Warga Dunia. I established this company in 2016. My interest in tourism began while working as a guide at a museum in Surabaya in 2013. This opportunity allowed me to meet people from various nationalities and backgrounds. During that time, I met someone from Achen who introduced me to Couchsurfing, teaching me how the platform worked. Subsequently, I hosted travelers from places like Busan, Seattle, Prague, Barcelona, Wellington, and many more. Together, we explored my hometown of Banyuwangi, where I introduced them to my family, local cuisine, and customs, including meeting the local tribe, and participating in traditional ceremonies.
In 2014, I moved to Yogyakarta and began working as a freelance tour guide, allowing me to visit numerous beautiful locations. However, what truly stands out from my travels are the stories shared by my guests and the people I’ve encountered. This aspect of traveling, meeting people, has shaped me into an open-minded individual who values respect for others.
I’ve discovered the profound and wonderful impact that travel can have, connecting people worldwide and fostering positive change. This realization led me to establish Warga Dunia, which translates to “citizen of the world” in Indonesian. Through this platform, I aim to assist local communities and contribute to environmental conservation efforts in my hometown. The name Warga Dunia reflects my vision of uniting individuals as global citizens to make a positive impact through travel.
Our aim to create a connection among us, as citizens of the world, to make a positive impact for both humanity and the planet through Travel.
From our experiences, we conclude that a leaving impression trip is one that can have an impact on those around us. Even if only a little.
Therefore, we try our best to genuinely design each of the tours so that they can return to the local communities in places we go through NGOs we’re working closely with. Especially to sustain a better earth to live on. So, you can bring home memories that are second to none while having a worthwhile affecting journey all at once.
