This restaurant is like purposely hidden and let the customer know about it from their friend. Even a few locals never heard about this place. If you see the building from the front, you might think it’s just a home, not interesting at all, looks so ordinary. All doors and windows are closed. That’s why this restaurant is very interesting. After approximately 60 days, Kawah Ijen, or Ijen Crater, officially reopened to the public on September 8th, 2024.
Ijen Crater had been temporarily closed to the public on July 12th, 2024, due to volcanic activity.
Ijen Crater, located in East Java, Indonesia, is a volcanic crater renowned for its striking turquoise-colored acid lake, which is one of the world’s largest highly acidic lakes. It is also famous for the “blue fire” phenomenon, a natural occurrence where sulfuric gases ignite and create mesmerizing blue flames, visible in the early hours before dawn. The site is a popular destination for trekkers and adventure seekers, offering breathtaking views and a unique glimpse into sulfur mining, as local miners extract sulfur from the crater’s deposits.

How to Get to Mount Bromo
Easiest Way Special for You, Travelers!
Mount Bromo, located in East Java, Indonesia, is a popular tourist destination known for its stunning sunrise views and unique landscape. Mount Bromo belongs to four regions. They are Probolinggo, Malang, Lumajang, and Pasuruan. The main entrance and the nearest to the mountain is Probolinggo. We’re going to share an easy way to get to Mount Bromo special for you, the travelers.
Here we go.
Set your destination to Probolinggo.
Probolinggo is the region in East Java. It’s 107 km away from Surabaya. Probolinggo is the region that has the nearest and easiest way to Mount Bromo either the crater, sea of sand, and sunrise view points. From Surabaya you can buy the ticket to go to Probolinggo by our comfy KAI train. The journey by train takes about 2 hours.
Next: Go to Cemara Lawang.
Once you get to Probolinggo train station, it means you arrive right in the city center of Probolinggo. From here you need to go to Cemara Lawang, the last and nearest village to Mount Bromo. The distance from Probolinggo to Cemara Lawang is 53 km or 2 hours drive. You can go there by online taxi or any transport that you can find in front of Probolinggo train station.
Find Stay Around Entrance Gate of Bromo Tengger National Park
You don’t need to worry to find a stay in Cemara Lawang because there are a lot of hotels and homestays here. You can find it easily. My recommendation is Cafe Lava Hostel. It’s one of the oldest hotels in the area but their facility is good and their service and food are the best. Also the price is affordable compared with other homestays around with lower quality.
Walk the distance to see the magnificent view of the volcano compound.
Once you get to Cemara Lawang, from Cafe Lava Hostel and pass through the entrance gate you can reach the viewpoint of Bromo caldera just by 2 minutes walking.
